Though the effect of science and technology is experienced in everyday life of each and every person, there appears to be a very big gap between scientifically literate and the common person on the road on acquiring scientific attitude and awareness. Even in the elite and highly educated group, it is doubtful how many of them have scientific attitude in correct sense. In the awareness programs conducted by SOPANIKA, we go to schools/institutions and arrange an activity/demonstration program for 2~3 hours at 4 different levels.

We offer high quality workshops for teachers in science and mathematics at primary and undergraduate level. In these workshops, we focus on demonstrations, concrete strategies for common teaching tasks, challenges, and opportunities. These sessions draw on research-based best practices on teaching methodology and learning and help participants consider ways to apply those best practices in their teaching. Teaching Workshops are typically a mix of presentation, large group discussion, small group activities, and times for individual reflection.
3.As it is true of most hobbies and other organized activities, if you’re going to do some science activity/experiment, it’s desirable to have a dedicated place to do it. But dedicated lab space is by no means essential. Here SOPANIKA have something (experimental kit) called PLUS to think about when you choose a location for your home lab. PLUS contains small science experiments which don’t require much more space. SOPANIKA has developed PLUS kit using material easily available almost anywhere. All the experiments prescribed for primary and upper primary level can be performed using this kit. The materials in this kit are simple and readily available. With proper training and follow-up programme, teachers and students not only use the kit effectively, but also contribute to it substantially. A workbook illustrating how the kit can be used to perform textual and other interesting experiments, has been brought out.
What is the maximum number of students you should have in your science laboratory? How much lab space should be available for each science student? These are two of the most frequently asked questions about science lab design. The frequency of these questions points out the safety consciousness of today's science teacher. Here SOPANIKA have some guidelines on how to help solve the problem of overcrowding in the science laboratory. We hope school administration will evaluate and adopt these guidelines in an effort to provide a safer working and improved learning environment for teachers and students.
Science programs/fairs offer students an opportunity to practice science investigation and invention. In SOPANIKA, one can find suggestions on how to make outstanding presentations as well as how to set up and run a science fair or science 5.program. In the science programs/fairs organized by SOPANIKA, the participants will be able to –
- (a) Create their own learning experience and innovations, just as scientists do in the real world.
- (b) Design display boards to communicate the stories of their science projects/experiments.
- (c) Participate as a community and support and encourage their fellow students at the fair.
- (d) Interact with adults and improve presentation skills by answering questions from visitors.
SOPANIKA has developed fun filled summer camp for children. All the activities in the summer camp are simplistically designed to give the children exposure to technology and also our cultural and traditional knowledge base. Lots of interactions with dignitaries from various fields are arranged by us. We plan to teach children in a non-traditional way. We include speed mathematics, Hindi, and English in the academic curriculum so that children can make, learn and enjoy. This program is designed for students from grades 6 to 8.
